Janine King - mother - 60 - aid workerLikes: [/li][li] Literature
Hadleigh's mother is a kind woman. Although he rarely sees her anymore she makes sure to call him atleast once a week. Hadleigh dislikes these conversations as they almost always refer to his recent divorce. Despite this, she is the one person he knows who will always be there for him. She still lives in Cairo.Derek King - father - 62 - diplomat
Hadleigh's father died four years ago from a sudden stroke. He was 58 at the time and no one expected the tragedy. When he was alive, however, Derek and Hadleigh rarely got along. They both had different priorities; his father wanted him to become a doctor whilst Hadleigh had always wanted to be a teacher.
Melissa Davidson - ex-wife - 33 - lawyer
Hadleigh rarely speaks to his ex-wife. He only sees her fortnightly when his son comes to visit him. She's a strong willed, stubborn woman who takes no responsibility for the divorce and instead blames it on Hadleigh's 'absence'. Despite this, Hadleigh still has some feelings for his ex-wife.
Jasper Davidson-King - son - 4
Jasper is by far the light of Hadleigh's life. He sees him only every two weeks, but makes sure they have a quality time together. Jasper looks like his father; Hadleigh usually takes him to the park whenever he visits.

[/blockquote]Personality:
Hadleigh is usually found walking through the corridors whistling an upbeat tune. He tends to keep things on the bright side and tries to not show people when he is feeling down. Because of this people assume he has a perfect life, a perfect family and nothing is ever wrong. This often works to his disadvantage as when he is feeling down on himself people dismiss it as trivial or ridiculous. In keeping with his seemingly optimistic attitude, Hadleigh is prone to fits of extreme hyperactivity (especially when teaching) and can get excited over the littlest of things. He enjoys his job and loves to see the students smile when he gets truly into something interesting.Appearance:
Being open-minded is an important thing to him. He accepts people of all beliefs and cultures and does not hold prejudice against anyone no matter if they agree or disagree with what he says. His students respect him because of this and Hadleigh sees them as equals rather than just pupils. The door to his office is always open and he prides himself on not only acting as a teacher, but also a point of counsel for his young students who wish to either learn more of just discuss daily life with him. Hadleigh is a good listener and enjoys hearing what other people have to say. He is normally full of useful advice if someone has a problem.
That being said Hadleigh hates taking advice from others. He rarely shares his problems and is often too proud to admit to any weaknesses he may have. This is not because he thinks he is perfect, but rather he does not want to worry people with his own problems when they definitely have themselves to worry about.
Hadleigh likes to keep active and although he rarely sees his son (once a fortnight) he takes him out to the park and the two of them play on weekends. Hadleigh cannot drive so rides a bicycle to the school when he is working. Because of this he is naturally healthy and of a thin, muscular build. He believes that cycling is his own 'personal reflection time' in which he can plan what to do for the day and have general time to himself before braving the hoards of students at the school. He also enjoys playing tennis, but gave it up recently due to an injury.
History:
Hadleigh is not a tall man. He stands at 5'10 and weighs just 160lbs. His skin is a light tan colour from living in Cairo for so long and adapting to the climate. Because of his love of hot weather, Hadleigh often enjoys the outdoors and is thus usually seen wearing some kind of hat. He adores hats and has many of them, all in different designs and colours. He wears them indoors sometimes much to the dismay of his students who poke fun at hime for this.
Hadleigh has a few tattoos up both his arms, however, he hides these when working by wearing long sleeved shirts. His favourite tattoo is by far one on his arm with his son's name - Jasper - on it. He also has a tattoo of his ex-wife's name on his chest which he intends to cover up when he has the time and money to spare. He also has a few miscellaneous tattoos on his fingers that he finds impossible to hide. He has his right ear pierced, but rarely wears anything in it.
Hadleigh bears a scar above his right eyebrow from when he was younger and having his eyebrow pierced. The hole has since covered over and he is left with a small scar. On his wrists he wears a pair of bright coloured beaded bracelets his son made him oneday at preschool. He no longer wears his wedding ring and instead has it tucked away in his sock drawer never to be seen again. Around his neck he wears a necklace given to him by his mother, inside it is a picture of her from when he was just 20 years old. It's black and white and slightly faded.
Hadleigh's clothing usually consists of jeans and a t-shirt, covered by a long sleeved jacket. Failing this, he wears a long sleeved dress-shirt and tie. He does not show his tattoos while teaching as he believes they would distract the students. When off work, he happilly wears short sleeved shirts and even when on campus (but not teaching) he shows his body art freely. His hair sits just below his ears and is dark brown, as are his eyes.
CHILDHOOD:Experience:
Hadleigh James King was born to Derek and Janine king on the 19th of October 1973 in Cairo, Egypt. His father was a diplomat for the British Consulate stationed in Egypt and his mother worked as an aid-worker in the local slums. Hadleigh grew up amongst the street-kids of Cairo, immersing himself in the culture and learning the language quickly. He went to primary school in Egypt and was often teased because he was white and did not look like the rest of the children. However, he put them all to shame with his great skill with both the Arabic language and writing. He made many friends in primary school so the transition to High School was easy.
TEENAGE YEARS:
Hadleigh enjoyed the same rites of passage all teenagers did. At the age of 13 he had his first kiss to a fellow British descendant named Lily and at 16 lost his virginity. His high school years were typical of that of any teenager and he rarely had any problems. His parents were attentive to him and he immersed himself in books from his parents' extensive library. He learned to love the classics of thingyens and would spend hours each day reading them over and over again. At the age of 18, just after finishing school, he decided he wanted to become a teacher.
UNIVERSITY:
Hadleigh gained a degree in Modern Western Literature from Cairo University. He topped his class and recieved honors for the subject. He was offered a scholarship to Oxford for a post-graduate degree, and took it without hesitation. There he further cemented his knowledge by gaining a Doctorate as well as a Teaching Certificate. At the age of 27 Dr. Hadleigh James King met his future wife, Melissa Davidson.
THE MARRIAGE:
The two met at the university library in the study room. Melissa studied law at Oxford and was from the United States. It was a whirlwind romance and the two married 18 months later. A year after they were married a son was born. He was christened Jasper Derek Davidson-King - gaining the middle name from his recently deceased grandfather. As soon as Jasper was born the family moved to the United States so that Melissa could be closer to her family.
CRESCENT HILL/THE DIVORCE:
After relocating to the United States, Hadleigh tried for the newly vacant position for teacher of Modern Literature at Dartmouth University. He was accepted into the position and began immediately. His new job, however, took a toll on his relationship with his wife and shortly afterwards Hadleigh found her having an affair with a man by the name of Johnathan Chapman. Seeing this, Hadleigh demanded a divorce and the battle ensued. He moved out of the house and found an apartment at Crescent Hill. He lost custody of his son and can now only see him every fortnight. Commuting to Dartmouth everyday (a one hour train trip) was taking it's toll on him so he decided to leave the position and look for work closer to where he lived when he saw the job open at Crescent Hill University, he jumped at the chance.
